Lecture 'Women are the key to progress' by Mr. Alexander De Croo

Alexander De Croo will address SDGs 3 and 5 in his lecture about gender equality. All Ghent University students are welcome at the lecture on December 10th at 6 p.m. in the 'Aula' in Ghent.

Gender equality is often associated with the pay gap or the number of women in management positions, but these issues are symptoms of the underlying problems. Assuring women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights is crucial to achieve gender equality. So is better penalizing violence against women and tackling bias. Society brainwashes women from birth so that they find it normal to play second fiddle. This needs to change. No country can get ahead when it leaves half its people behind.

Mister Alexander De Croo is Belgian Minister for Development Cooperation.
