A word from our Chair, prof. dr. Marleen Temmerman

At ICRH Global, we are heartened by the commitment of our ICRH community In Europe, Africa and China to join the global village, in particular WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF and other UN agencies and partners, all of whom are working towards the transformative goals of ending preventable maternal mortality, unmet family planning needs and gender-based violence

Advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights is our key mandate, in collaboration with our academic colleagues, governments, health care providers, and with thousands of NGOs, activists, community based organisations, and networks. We are working together to make the right to health and gender equality a reality for women and girls, during and beyond the pandemic.
I am very proud to present in this newsletter just a brief summary of the many projects, programmes, research projects, publications and dissemination activities of our ICRH entities, based on the hard work and tireless efforts of many and the drive to contribute to a better world. Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, child protection, maternal health, and contraception are still part of the unfinished MDG agenda, complemented by innovative approaches and topics such as health educational programmes for prisoners In Mozambique.
The COVID-19 epidemic is still among us, and despite all progress made in vaccine development, less than 5% of the African populations have received the vaccine, highlighting the unacceptable inequity in this ‘leave no one behind’ era. COVID-19 still has an impact on SRHR, particularly in poor and vulnerable populations, and as such requires our attention and efforts to bridge the gap.
Special congratulations to Anna Galle for her PhD, Respectful maternity care and the role of male partners in Mozambique: practices, obstacles and conceptualisation.
